What is microneedling?

Over the past few years, microneedling has grown in popularity and is a cosmetic procedure that involves pricking the skin with small, sterilised needles. These tiny holes, which can’t be seen, are effectively wounds, which means your body begins to create more elastin and collagen to help it heal. This, in turn, rejuvenates the skin cells and replaces it with fresher, healthier and younger-looking skin.

Here, we explore what micro needling is in more detail. But if you’re interested in arranging a free consultation or want to know about our services, please get in touch.

What can microneedling be used to treat?

Where can microneedling be carried out?

The majority of people have microneedling done on their face as part of their skin care routine. However, a trained doctor can also carry out skin needling on your:

What can I expect during treatment?

When you choose Surrey Laser Clinic for your microneedling treatment, we’ll ensure that you understand the process before starting and also discuss your desired results over the course of treatment.

Before we begin, we’ll massage a numbing cream into your skin. The tool itself looks similar to a pen, which we’ll gently roll over the treatment area. A small amount of bleeding may occur but this is completely normal. You shouldn’t feel any pain, just some tingling. After the treatment is finished, we’ll apply some cooling gel.

We usually recommend a course of 3-6 sessions with around 4-6 weeks in between. This means that the skin has time to heal. Each session will last around 60 minutes.

Got any questions about microneedling? Perhaps you want to discuss alternative treatments including laser therapy? Get in touch today and we’d be happy to answer your queries or arrange a free consultation.

The benefits of microneedling

There are many benefits of having a professional microneedling treatment.

 These include:

  • It’s safe and easy to use
  • All over the body can be treated in minutes
  • It’s suitable for all skin types and ages
  • There’s little downtime
  • Boosted collagen production
  • Anti-ageing and great results!

Most people need a couple of treatments before they start seeing their desired results. However, this will depend on your skin and how it heals. We’re happy to discuss this in a free consultation though.

Say goodbye to painful methods of laser hair removal and hello to the world’s best. The Motus AY revolutionising laser hair removal.

Microneedling isn’t painful but you may experience tingling during the treatment. Some redness in the following days is also completely normal. This will fade on its own, and is nothing to worry about.

We ask patients to refrain from touching or picking their skin. This is to allow the skin to heal as best as possible, in a hygienic way. For the first few days, you may also be more sensitive to sun which is why we recommend applying sun cream.

While both of these treatments can be used to treat the same things, microneedling is more affordable. Microneedling can also be used on people who have darker skin tones as it doesn’t affect the skin’s tone or pigmentation. We’re more than happy to recommend which treatment would be best for you, and your skin.

You might be tempted by the at-home microneedling kits but, the truth is, cosmetic procedures should only ever be carried out by a professional in a sterile environment. Home tools won’t give you the same results as those used in-clinic and they can also spread germs if they haven’t been cleaned properly, resulting in infection.

We’re proud to offer our clients the most advanced device available, from the UK’s Number 1 Laser & IPL manufacturer Lynton Lasers.
