Does A HydraFacial Make You Peel?

This is a common concern and quite rightly so when having any sort of procedure, especially on your face. “Everyone will see I have had something done, what will they think?”

Well, the good news is that you can get amazing and instant results with HydraFacial with no downtime, you can pop out in your lunch break and be back in the office right away. People will notice you look different but in a good way.

The treatment uses a gentle exfoliating method that removes dead skin cells and hydrates the skin, leaving it looking and feeling smoother and more radiant. It is possible to experience slight flakiness or dryness after the treatment, but this is temporary and can be easily managed with moisturiser. We can apply a light moisturiser in the treatment after and we also can give you a hydration skin pack to leave with in order to help.

What to do before and after HydraFacial

Before HydraFacial

1. Avoid direct exposure to the sun for 24 hours before the treatment.
2. Refrain from using any retinoid creams for 48 hours before treatment to prevent skin irritation.
3. Do not wax or shave the treated area at least one day before the treatment.
4. Inform Rachel or one of the team of any allergies or special medical conditions.
5. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing.

After HydraFacial

1. Try not to touch or rub the treated area after the treatment for 12 hours.
2. Avoid direct sun exposure for 48 hours after the treatment.
3. Refrain from using any exfoliating products for at least 24 hours after treatment.
4. It is recommended to avoid applying any make-up or using any skincare products for at least 24 hours after the treatment to let your skin absorb the serums.
5. Drink plenty of water to help your skin rehydrate after the treatment.
6. It is essential to use an SPF sunscreen of at least 30 or higher after the treatment to prevent skin damage.

How long should I wait to wash my face after HydraFacial?

We recommend waiting six hours. The reason is the treatment is still working on your skin after you leave, it is penetrating deep in to the dermal layer and will be re building collagen so you don’t want to wash the active ingredients off.

However, as with anything, is there something that we can add to a facial to give us better results?

A normal facial involves cleaning, massaging, and applying masks to nourish the skin. It is a gentle treatment that helps to improve the appearance of the skin by removing dead skin cells and providing hydration.

On the other hand, the HydraFacial is a multi-step skin treatment that uses technology to deliver instant and long-lasting results. At Surrey Laser all of our technicians are fully trained in using the HydraFacial machine and are confident with using it to get the best results. It involves several stages of deep cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and protection. The treatment gives a hydrating, plumping, and more youthful glow to the skin.

The main differences between the two facials are:

What is better than HydraFacial?

A bit of a trick question here because it does depend on the goals of the individual client. If you are looking for a high-grade revamp of the skin to cause long term change in the sub structure of the dermis, then you need to have something more invasive like micro needling which creates micro pockets in the skin to increase collagen production and make the skin look firmer and tighter. It is also a good option for patients with sensitive skin. An oxygen facial, on the other hand, is more suitable for patients with dry or dull skin, as it helps to rejuvenate and brighten the complexion.
3. Sensations during and after: During a HydraFacial, patients may feel mild suction and pressure, but it is generally considered a painless procedure. In short, the HydraFacial yields longer term results but tends to be more intense, (it is still relaxing). I’m biased as obviously we prefer HydraFacial, but the best thing is to try the different types and figure out what is best for you and your needs.

A normal facial is great, but it won’t necessarily cause longer lasting change in the complexion of the skin. It all depends on your goals and what you want to achieve.

Should I wash before a HydraFacial?

It is generally recommended to wash your face before a HydraFacial to remove any dirt, oil, and makeup that may be on your skin. This will allow for the HydraFacial to penetrate and cleanse your skin more effectively.
